Preventing Inventory Drift Across Multi-Facility Logistics Hubs
When an enterprise operates distribution centers across multiple municipalities—such as Sanchong, Taoyuan, and Kaohsiung—keeping physical inventory counts aligned with central digital records is an ongoing challenge.
The Concurrency Race Condition
If two regional sales offices allocate the last twenty units of a high-demand SKU simultaneously across separate regional terminals, batch-synchronized databases can falsely confirm both orders. The error is only discovered hours later when warehouse packing teams attempt to retrieve physical stock from empty bins.
Optimistic Concurrency with Versioned Stock Ledgers
By implementing version-stamped inventory journals instead of direct row-level quantity overwrites, the database engine enforces optimistic concurrency checks. If the version token has incremented between the time an order is drafted and confirmed, the transaction is rejected gracefully and re-evaluated against real-time stock levels.
